WOOLNAPPER

(re-post)

Came home yesterday to find balls of wool stretched across the garden and leading to a bag in the laundry room that I had ready for the yarn exchange at Knitting Guild.

The cat next door is back to his kitten habit of wool collection, much to the chagrin of his owner who does not knit. I had not seen him actually in the act of redistribution (I have enough to share and perhaps am hopeful he will bring me some awesome hand spun fibre in exchange.)

Then, one day, sitting here at the computer, I saw his orange face suddenly peer around the sunroom door, take one look at me, scoot for the ball of yarn in the corner, grab one in his mouth and race madly away. He dropped the ball on the steps. I think he knew he had made his point.

The bell around his neck thwarts his predator instinct with the birds but with yarn he is a great hunter.
