Altered clothing…..jeans to tabard/jumper

IMG_7251 A pair of jeans,  turned upside down, split along the side seams, split along the crotch seam, legs resewn on front and back to extend the original front and back seam,  bottoms of legs sewn to form shoulders, sides 'woven' together in an open 'stitch' with lengths of crocheted handspun wool, front and back V's adjusted likewise….

IMG_7253 The back view….actually, it can be worn either way with the original fly becoming the kick pleat at front or back.

It is roomy;  clothing as architecture, housing the body.

IMG_7255 Side view.  Linen yarn could be crocheted or Greek braided and used for the weaving.  Or another pair of jeans cut into narrow strips and crocheted or finger knit into a cord.

The original pockets could have been used by sewing the lining in place and then a slit made higher up in the leg of the jean – but I did not think of this until later, after I had cut away the lining and stitched the pocket opening closed.
They would have made interesting lowdown pockets!
