Out of the Ordinary

Thirteen suitcases out ….. Husky in

Husky is still with me:  suitcases are down to three:  lots of changes but some things remain the same.

(re-post)

IMG_5559Simplifying ….  deciding to replace the 52 old suitcases that have served me well over many years as dressers/shelves/box storage, as transport,  tables, decoration ….  culling the contents  …. the antenna went out for replacement(s).

Husky presented at a garage sale.  At the same sale there was a lovely antique bureau with bakelite handles.  My gaze caught on it for a moment and I admired it but the 'been there,  done that' (many times!) and my wish for something more – well, modern, perhaps – had me riveted to the Husky. It was love at first sight.

I thought it was meant for tools.  It was.  I thought it would serve well for clothing or art supplies or fabric or fibre or – tools.  It would.  The seller had used it for her photographic equipment but it would not fit into her new space.   Getting it home was an adventure: unlike suitcases it would not fit in the trunk of my car.  The times are definitely a'changing.

Thirteen suitcases have gone and a lot of stuff they contained has gone to new owners;  culling has resulted in one suitcase now doing what three were previously needed for.

I like how Husky joins the new/old  juxtaposition and adds its complement.  I like the convenience of the sliding drawers.  I like the meaning it carries from my means of acquisition.  I like its 'repurposing' from the original intent.

What next …
