Snacking gardens have long been a part of my life; here's a post from five years ago about an outdoor one. And this is about a city block of opportunities for passersby to snack.
In the spring I suspended two beets in water to ….. 'see what would happen'. It has been deligthful to watch the progress over the months in the kitchen window, to snack on leaf or two or three – put them in the morning smoothie or add them to a salad or just eat them. Little bursts of tasty nutrition; can't get much fresher.
And I now can turn eyes from the hummingbird in the beet to hummingbirds, outdoors , snacking on the scarlet runner bean flowers on the deck.

I love snacking on the veggies and fruits. I’ve got little tomatoes just turning red and yellow and my scarlett runner beans are beginning to flower. These are from seeds that I got on my visit to Sooke last November. Raspberries are in the garden on wild vines as well.
