Waves and curls …. ouch!

When I came across these in the craft suitcase I made an inadvertent grimace as I imagine most other women coming of age in the 1950's would have. 

 Those hard rollers with hair wrapped around to make curls were awful to sleep on and scorching if used in a hair dryer – the kind with the plastic bag that went over your head.

Remember Wave-Set?  It was green and I am sure I could identify the smell now.  When the hair was wetted with Wave-Set and those clamps gripped into the hair –  waves did result.  And headaches.  No wonder I opted for straight hair and pony tails.

 

As I was putting them back in the suitcase and wondering why I was continuing to store them as I would certainly never use them for … hair …. I suddenly thought of this bag closure.  And wondered…

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Nope.  The sight was just too painful!
