Sequoia – colour …. texture …. wearable?

IMG_5684 Outside the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria is this permanent, growing,  ever-changing, exqusite work of art:  sequoia tree.

IMG_5679 The sun climbing the trunk early on a summer morning inspires walking closer and staring upward.

IMG_5680 You almost expect it to stretch into the touch if you put your hand on the bark.

IMG_5675 What kept me stopped and gazing was the bronze and the green and the  soft and the crisp and the depth of the texture of the base.

IMG_5676 Could I translate that into something I could wear?

The challenge stayed with me as I finally strolled on.

  1. Karen – that is so ironic, I was at the AGO yesterday! But no beautiful trees outside. Instead a huge ‘bronze’ Henry Moore sculpture.

  2. Hello Michele
Hey, you have me grinning with the ‘metallics’ ….. iron(ic) ….. bronze…. And I wonder if you also have to touch the HM – I do – sort of like the toe of the huge bronzed statue of Timothy Eaton which was touched so many times by customers that it was always polished and shiny. Fascinating traditions, or whatever one would call these.
