Out of the Ordinary

White rabbit, white rabbit, white rabbit …

A lovely elderly lady told me she said "White rabbit, white rabbit, white rabbit"  first thing when she awakened on the first day of the month.  I didn't ask her why –  I think we got distracted with a discussion about what we were knitting.  But I have been doing it ever since.  The phrase seems to automatically pop to mind, which I find interesting;  I don't think I am trying to remember  to do it. And I am not sure if it 'works' to say it later on in the day. I said it first thing this morning.  In my mind.  Then I said it out loud,  just in case.  When I turned on the radio the host said  "White rabbit, white rabbit."  Twice.  Hmmm.

I decided to google and see what this is all about and came up with this.

I would have read it but this rabbit was hopping madly on the site and I hate such things.  Sigh.

Happy February!

  1. That is what we would say at the beginning of a new month in England. I have no idea if it orginated there or it was just something the English said. It is suppsed to bring you luck for the new month.

  2. Hi Linda
Interesting, your experience of this in England. I had never heard of it in Ontario but the lady who told me about it is from there as well. Hmmm. I’ll have to brave the madly hopping rabbit and do some research. Hope the groundhog’s behaviour tomorrow is agreeable to you!
