It's always a bit worrisome to come upon a beautiful slug leisurely crossing the porch stairs as I leave for my Deli walk in the morning. I know the paper carrier has come and gone and the mail person is not expected for ages and I've never actually come across one trod upon and squished. Once I tried to hurry a slug along and that was silly: slugs cannot be rushed!
Slug eyes can be very expressive when turned toward you.
