This ongoing adventure of rescuing handmade items at garage sales and either repairing them (such as the woven sweater) or turning them into something quite different (like these dresser runners or scarves )
has evolved into an awareness of a deeper meaning. Fibre archeology.
Archeology, being "the scientific study of civilizationa through their material remains" and the scarcity of fibre articles because fabric doesn't tend to 'remain' very well – got me taking this unearthing of such lovely artifacts more seriously, and to rename it "fibre archeology".
