Sitting on the ground with one end of the back strap loom around my waist, the other end attached to something higher like a doorknob or a tree and leaning back to create the tension for the weaving was – not working for me……
So when my eye caught on the two posts on the day sofa I had an "aha" moment and attached one end to one post, the other end to the other.
Now I could sit on a chair and weave – which worked for me……
When I had completed the length I needed using ties as the weft (the plan is to use this as the cover of a basket/bag) there was still a nice long bit of warp unwoven upon.
So I started weaving from the other end using the vibrantly hand spun.
And here completely off the loom.
The simplicity and portability – and adaptability – of the back strap loom impresses and pleases me.
As does the energy of overspun wool! It seems to be applauding itself.
