The first basket/bag continues to delight me with its flexibility as both a basket and a carryall so I have been wanting to make more.
A length of Nathan Sibbeston's weaving – he used roving as the weft, his hands and arms as the shuttle – with its vibrant colours and stunning texture, did not immediately suggest a basket/bag to me but once I had it home it did not want to just hang on the wall: it wanted to go 'gloriously walking'.
I checked with the artist and Nathan said he would not mind if his work became functional as well as decorative.
A simple bag was made from burlap and the weaving attached to this.
It satisfies the requirements of a basket/bag.
Beautifully so!

I love what you did with Nathan’s piece! It makes it possible for so many others to appreciate his weaving as well. Thanks for sharing!
