I was sitting in the garden in the late afternoon……it was sunny and warm ……. I had the camera in the bag with books and knitting…… I heard the sound “scritter, scritter, scritter….scritter, scritter, scritter”…. after a bit of searching I found the wasp diligently scraping away at the wood of the board fence to get the pulp to make its nest….. I got the camera and took the picture. It didn’t turn out! The wasp was out of my line of sight and as I tried to focus down on it – it flew away. Damn. You’ll just have to imagine how special the whole thing is. Google and you’ll likely find many splendid images. But I hope you have had – or will have – the experience of watching a wasp collecting material for its nest. It is most worthwhile. It is quite magical. It’s all about making home.
