I’ve never done this before so it is an interesting experiment: I’ve neither left a painting unfinished nor hung it on the wall unfinished. Unlike the fibre art or photography or homemaking, which can be done in stages, when I paint – I paint. This painting was started many months ago and life suddenly needed full attention (the house sold!) so the easel and the board and the paints got packed and moved; Trotting Vacuum Home went with them.
Yesterday I was rummaging and came across the painting neatly stacked in the storage area. This morning I got it out and attached hooks to the back of it and hung it up. It’s in the hallway where I pass it – and look at it – many times a day. I know where the easel is. I know where the paints are. Maybe I’ll paint. The house is not for sale.

I love your unfinished painting! It reminds me of a neighborhood yard sale that we had in the Triangle over 25 years ago. At the end of the sale, one of Miriam’s friends was given an old free-standing hair dryer that hadn’t sold, and which the owner didn’t want to bring back inside. I still have that picture of her in my mind’s eye,(much like your unfinished painting, dragging that hair dryer home behind her like an unwilling dog. I like to imagine her mother’s face when she arrived home.
