In the space where there used to be a tired old coin -operated laundry, on Haultain at Belmont in the Oaklands/Fernwood neighbourhood of Victoria, there is now a bright, open, snazzy coffee shop named Koffi. It only opened on Saturday; today it was full of parents with young children, older family groups, a number of people with laptops, one senior lady knitting (that would be me), joggers. They are deciding on their hours but plan to be open seven days a week, starting at seven on weekdays, later on weekends, and extending into the evening. My hot chocolate was made with good quality soya milk and the frothy top was swirled with chocolate; caramel was another option. There were cookies and biscotti, fruit danish, fruit salad. Interesting teas. And koffi coffee. The furniture – sofas, chairs and tables, are modern day Fifties style, mdF colours – brown and orange. Neat swirly lights. Neat floor treatment. A chalkboard is at just the right height for kids who were making good use of it. Yippeee! It feels and speaks ‘community’ and the ‘community’ was there.

I just live down the street and am making a trip in there this morning – and likely many more to come. Good value, good quality and the perfect addition to our little neighbourhood.
We live not too far away and are definitely going to go – still haven’t gotten there yet, but I like that it sounds family-friendly and all – thanks for the review-of-sorts!
I live just up the road from there and i am so happy they put it in! they really brought the street alive considering what used to be in there was a dysfunctional laundromat. They guys that run it are so awesome and down to earth. for those of you that enjoy it keep them alive and choose them over the other coffee houses not only for pure taste value but for the community. they also do alot of work with the “haultain corners project” which specializes in beautification of that little sanctuary. 5 thumbs up i love this place!
La Leche League Victoria holds a Cafe Con Leche at Koffi every month.
It’s a get together for breastfeeding mothers and their families to come and hang out, drink something nice, eat something delicious, and feel comfortable out and about.

See the poster on the door for time and date. It’s usually the second Monday at 10am.
How great that Koffi is being so ‘populated’. Knitters gather there Monday afternoon. And The Letter Writing Club is there happenstance.
I would have to say this is some of the best “koffi” I have ever tasted and the modern design which is hip yet has a cozy welcoming feel to it!
