PLAYING WITH FIBRE : SHRUG

Karen Skowron   Victoria BC

A variation on The Snug   (Sept 28 post)  this Shrug  requires a single piece of fabric  as well but with only two cuts and it is more like a shawl around the shoulders.

This is polar fleece, 60 inches by 26 inches; the hole is a 3 inch by 2 inch cross slit 12 inches in from the end,  6 inches in from the top.  The dimensions are versatile – more ‘collar’ results from increasing the 6 inches.  Using a piece wider than 26 inches gives a longer Shrug but……..

this one works nicely to keep shoulders warm and
yet leaves the arms free.
You can adjust the style but basically you wrap the fabric around the shoulders with the hole over the right shoulder and then bring the point (shown with the pin in the bottom right corner in the above picture) through the hole from underneath.
Pull it through so that it hangs down: three corners will come together here; the pin secures all three layers and keeps the Shrug in place.  It is very cozy and one of those garments  you forget you are wearing which is a nice feature of an article of clothing.
