At a thrift store it would have been on the ‘Collectibles’ shelf and had a price tag ten times higher, but since I obtained it at a church sale I paid a dollar and the nice man who sold it to me told me "my family used to have one just like it when I was a kid." He looked about my age so I guess I was buying nostalgia because I wasn’t then aware of how useful it would prove to be.
It’s a thermos, stainless steel (well, shiny metal of some sort), tall and slim, a silvery metal-topped cork stopper, a flip-over cover. It looked really neat on my counter when I brought it home. A few days later I thought to use it for what it was meant for – keep beverages hot.
Well! It keeps things hot for twenty-four hours. It gives the luxury of an already-made cup of tea at any hour of the day or night which is especially welcomed when I come home in the late afternoon and am tired and thirsty. I like it a lot.
