Sparrow are dimpling

With playful dustbaths.
I have a balcony seat and the details are delightful. A dozen or so sparrows are making dents in the dry earth with their madly, gladly, wing flapping/digging. Dust bathing. The dents become hollows and I am mesmerized by the deepest hole becoming the most attractive so that the birds nudge each other out of the way to have a turn.

I love to watch the sparrows bath in the indentation of our driveway. The sand comes from the salt and sand mix of the major highway which runs from Montreal to Toronto. The birds wash in sand gathered from far and wide.
