A somewhat similar experience of maple syrup on snow can be had by dribbling molasses on thick yogurt. Okay, so it’s a minor event compared to the real thing with all that atmosphere and fragrance and mud (from the wheels of the carts moving the maple syrup and the visitors in gum boots) and hot syrup on cold snow. It’s not that I wish that b’rrrr climate again but as I was circling molasses around on yogurt yesterday I was reminded of it. And memories are splendid.
