INTERESTING BOOK

Came across an interesting book in the library – and I love browsing the Books Of Interest shelf; sometimes add my own suggestions there – called Joey Green’s Incredible Country Store. At the same time I picked up Sue Grafton’s newest – R is for Ricochet – and when I got home and had time picked up the Green book thinking to just do a casual browse before I settled down with Kinsey. An hour or so later I was still engrossed in the Country Store. The appeal is in the nostalgia and the details – the image of the inventor of Noxzema filling the blue jars from a funnel, and how he named the product, recipes for lip balm and soap and Cracker Jack and Oh Henry! bars and much more, how much wire is in a Slinky, the trials and tribulations to market some of the items before they became financial successes, the story behind Scrabble and Monopoly, the old ads for Mum deodorant and Colgate dental cream. Etc! A website was given –
http://www.wackyuses.com/index2.html – and it looks interesting but I still have some ‘aisles’ to saunter in the ‘Store’.
