Out of the Ordinary

HUMMINGBIRD

Watched a hummingbird sitting on the branch that is the support for the morning glory vines. The bird was facing west, sun on its shoulders, looking here and there. A wasp flew by and it followed its flight. Comparing wing procedure, perhaps. Then it began to poke seriously at something on the vine and for awhile I thought it was the curled remnants of a yesterday flower with some leftover nectar. But it seems it was just a leaf so maybe there was some dew being cupped that the sun had not yet steamed away. Then it extended one wing as if airing an armpit and looked around some more. A breeze began to shake the morning glory vines and the bird bent and swayed with the wind dance before allowing itself to be blown away into flight.
