KNITTING HONOURED

In this ongoing adventure of seeking ways to honour what we create with fiber by putting it on view, I offer this: (now, you have to imagine it as I am closer but not yet there of being able to provide pictures with these ‘letters’.) I took the gorgeous Guernsey sweater unearthed from a heap at a rummage sale ages ago and which has been ‘hanging out’ on the back of a wingback chair, at ease but not really in a fully appreciative situation, and put a square pillow form into it. Set it against the wall at the head of the daybed. Then I took a pebbled silk cardigan, buttoned it, filled it with the rectangular husk pillow that adjusts so nicely to head or back, and lay it in the arms of the Guernsey, took one of the cardigan’s arms and draped it around the neck of the Guernsey. The sight satisfied me immediately, made me grin. And, of course, the true test was if it was also functional. It is! I can sit on the daybed in comfort, legs extended, back supported by these ‘nicely clothed’ pillows.
