Out of the Ordinary

WEATHER

The wind is championing gusts this morning and the raindrops on the sunroom window declare that it is indeed the season where sky water is blown sideways from the east. But the leaves are leaving the trees by ones and twos, not the groups one would expect. Why is this, I wonder. It does seem there are still many many leaves on the trees this middle of November. And the flowering plum trees are already in bloom on streets I frequent. Not the orchards that will occur along boulevards next February but bushes here and there and I was startled to a consideration and reflection that it is usually December when I delight in their appearance. I also noticed a mallow shrub in more than an “excuse-me-but-isn’t-this-still-summer” flowering. My neighbour has huge roses nodding to passersby. And just now on the radio a scientist is outlining the negative effects of global warming. This goes in my ears as my eyes absorb the roses.
