Out of the Ordinary

Month: August 2005

  • ONE: VICTORIA BC WORD PICTURES POLE/TREE

On the corner of Cook and Caledonia, by the green sea of the Royal Athletic Park, there is a giant sequoia tree living up to its name, the tree that gives the aspect of palms-pressed-together-reaching-toward-sky.  Walking north on Cook, on the east side of the street, gazing in admiration at the red textured bark and the no-nonsense green of the foliage, there comes a point where I stop and stare.  What happens is the wooden hydro pole with its wreath of transformers is perfectly aligned with the growing tree.  A contrast, greatly, but somehow quite fitting.
