  • APRON POCKET PURSE

About to attach pocket purse around waist yesterdy, my attention was caught by the apron hanging by the door.  I’ve been using it as a garden apron but I suspect it was meant for a carpenter or such.  It’s in a sturdy material, navy/white ticking pattern, nice roomy pockets above and below, a shiny stainless steel clip, adjustable neck, satisfyingly long ties.  It soonest was on me; cell phone, wallet, glasses, odds and ends transferred from purse to ‘apron’, keys secured onto clip and tucked into a narrow pocket. The navy/white complemented my denim attire and has that subtle appeal of Irish grandpa shirts.   Off to the Deli and not the garden.  I then wore it downtown on errands.  It is comfortable and all the purse contents are easily accessible.

The response was interesting: it does look as if I am engaged in some sort of ‘business’, I suppose.  In one store a woman approached me and asked if I worked there.  I said I did not, that I was shopping as well.  She looked a very expressive question at my apron purse and saw only ‘apron’.  I said, "It’s a purse".  She opened her mouth to say something but then didn’t and walked away. I probably could have told her where to find what she was looking for if I had thought to ask her what it was. (:
