In one of my books, HAROLD EDISON: INTRODUCING (a work in process), this therapist-detective is told by a client that she dreams she is knitting and when she wakes up finds her knitting has actually happened. He believes her. I’ve never done this (yet!) but I do knit mentally – in the night when enthusiastic thoughts have become too active and prevent sleep and in the day when knitting is not possible such as during hand felting or stirring a custard. Knitting for insomnia, for distraction – hands off, so to speak! An actual result is not necessary – but wouldn’t that be an adventure.
