  • KNITTING : NOT! FROSTY

Img_0569Polish Deli Patio  8 a.m.  In spite of sun, in spite of wristlets (these are made from the cuffs of a rescued ((at a garage sale: worn-through elbows)) cashmere sweater with a technique of using squares sewn on as embellishment – copied it from a rug – can’t discover what it is called – ????),  in spite of the warm camel hair wool (that’s a purse-in-process),  in spite of the cozy feeling that comes from using Lantern Moon needles – I only knit two rows this morning.  And then had to rip one out because even my casual attitude to results could not let the total variation to the pattern continue. (It’s a Tunisian stitch where you knit into the back of the second stitch and then into the front of the first stitch and get a lovely crossed pattern that has worked well on past purses; this time I somehow kept knitting the stitches in order which, of course, did not ‘cross’.)  Reason:  too chilly!  There was frost on the roofs this morning.  I can knit in such weather but I obviously cannot follow a pattern.  Now, two hours later, back at home, the sun has licked the frost away, windows are opened, breeze is gently nibbling the trees.  Autumn.  Which reminds me of………..

    Autumn haiku

    Most autumn days are
    Summer-tinged, (thank you, Nature!),
    Not winter-tainted.
