Out of the Ordinary

Knitting : Consternation

Someone has knitted something and I admire it.  The person responds by pointing out flaws, something ‘wrong’ with it.  I am then unsure if they are asking for more praise or reassurance which makes me feel manipulated.  I also feel a bit foolish for expressing my pleasure.  In comparison, when someone says they are pleased and am glad I like it or simply says, "thanks", then I am glad I spoke and true sharing takes place.
