Out of the Ordinary

Knitting : Scarf ; Finished; Gorgeous; Itchy!

Img_1421The Purse Stitch scarf is finished,  seen here spread across the counter in a wash-dry-quickly! endeavour as much as in the interest of blocking.

Well, I enjoyed knitting it and I very much like the look of it but the first wrap around my neck had me frowning.  It had that scratchy feel that suggests it is not going to get any better but continue to be – irritating!  How awful is that.

I took it off and gave it a good hard look as if that would soften its demeanour.  Then I got out the yarn label and considered the ‘ingredients’ – silk, linen, cotton, rayon.  Classic Elite Yarns.  RAIN.  I have had no problem in the past wearing any of the fibres.  Is there a chance that, on their own they are fine and friendly, but, like succotash (lima beans and corn) , problematic in the combination?  Is it possible that my washing the scarf  and not "dry clean only" as the label states put the fibres in a snit?

I tried it on again and wore it for awhile, thinking I was being overly attentive, like a mother locking eyes and heart on her  newborn.  But it continued to  be far less than the cosy, comfy, stunning, toasty neck adornment I had intended.  Well, darn.
