The wind in Victoria has been overly frisky these past few weeks, moving chairs from the veranda to under the apple tree in the front garden, wrapping my neighbour’s washing around and around her clothesline (I can see it from my window as I write), poking around in my ears and bothering sensitive sinuses when I am outdoors.
Coming in from the Deli walk on a busy day when I knew I would soon be going out again I needed a quick ear cover so went to where I thought the fleece stash was. I found it but at the same time the thought of socks came to mind: how two cheerful socks joined toe to toe and ankle to ankle with scarf pins would make an instant headband. They did!
And a length of fleece, sewn into a tube, attached into a circle with an elastic band, the open ends gathered with some thread and turned a bit back into themselves to make ‘flowers’, works well also.
