Out of the Ordinary

  • Texting: thumbs down to thumbs (only) up

Img_4586I watched a young girl texting on her cell phone as she waited  while her mother shopped.   When I got home I took  out my cell phone and duplicated her motions.  This kind of typing  is not something I have done so it was a new experience.  Whew and wow!

Knowing how the repetitive motions of knitting can cause great distress, the much more intense movement of the thumbs got me thinking…..

Surely someone has come up with a keyboard design on a cellphone that lets all fingers be used:   a transparent keypad that lets a user type from back and front.  I practiced a bit with this idea on my cellphone and it certainly seems doable and far less stressful on just the two thumbs.  Is it already available?  Being developed?  Waiting for someone to suggest it?  I suggest!
