Out of the Ordinary

Lilacs!

Img_5043The first home I made for myself was in a grove of lilacs in my beloved St. Thomas, Ontario.  I was three years old and the memory of that special place has influenced my choice of habitation ever since.  And given me an ongoing love of lilacs.

They are so abundant and generous with their blooms that you can pick handfuls – armfuls – and the tree seems hardly depleted.  Harvested trees seem to respond to the appreciation with increased flowers the next year.

Lilacs in the distance, be it a group or a single tree, draw one closer for a better look.  And then an even closer look.  And then, of course, one buries  one’s  nose…….

  1. The scent from the lilacs is so wonderful right now. We have the purple and white ones and every bush is laden with blooms this year.
