  • Teeny tiny tutorial : tie backpack

    Three ties, slightly overlapping, sewn together to the desired depth of the bag…the end ties become the shoulder straps….the middle tie is knotted into a Windsor knot and the end tucked down into the bag (it could be cut off).

    A piece of linen was sewn to the back of the ties and folded so that the opening at the top allows for two compartments.  In this photo the end ties have been knotted (Windsor knot)  and the bag can be worn around the neck; in the above photo the end ties have been sewn to the bottom corners of the linen and it then serves as a back pack. 

    These are my Dad's ties and as I was working on the bag I thought of how many days and how many hours these ties would have spent with my father in the workplace, chosen to match a shirt, a suit coat or a sports jacket, possibly a gift.
