The sweater was a thrift shop find. I think it must have been knit for a doll. All I had to do to turn it into this little purse was stitch up the bottom and the ends of the sleeves, crochet a strap and attach this to a pair of knitting needles which serve as a handle.
I've used the same technique on other interesting sweaters.
