Now that I can no longer snack in the garden on berries and tomatoes I am pleased to be able to buy cape gooseberries in our local grocery store. They are related to the tomato which has that fruit/vegetable issue of identity as does the cape gooseberry. I have had them in both salads and desserts. Mostly I just like to snack on them.

They are so pretty all wrapped in their cozy papery capes. What Wikipedia did not tell me is if the husks (capes) yield a dye. Anyone know?
