The hat is shown on a model but came about on me.
Those are curls of fleece attached here and there.
The material is light but very warm so a loose helmet style was preferred to something tight.
The button with simple closure of yarn wrapped around it a few times can be undone and the front face panel left hanging open.
And, of course, if one tires of the style, a few clips and thread pulled from seams – the scarf again – and further potential.
