Simple Loom

IMG_7748
The warp is knit from hemp in a simple garter stitch with every fourth row a wrapped and dropped stitch.

Here it is stretched on some amazing device I found at a church sale;  not sure what it is meant for, possibly something to do with quilting.

I will post the next stage tomorrow when it gets light – it is done but I want to take the picture in the day in natural light.  And by then I may have decided what it is to become…….

the ‘boards’ might have been used for fastening the fabric to do needlework/cross-stitch.. is that fabric that is left over along the boards? Do the screws at the ends of the boards loosen so you can fold them into one long stick?

  2. Hi Esther Yes, it does loosen and fold into one long stick and the yellow fabric is part of it so I suspect something is indeed attached to that in whatever its original use is. Worked great for what I needed also.
