My first attempt at adding a fragrance to wool …
resulted in it spending the night outdoors on the deck. I had put it in the trunk of the car, intending to take it to Knitting at Koffi in the afternoon, but the smell was overpowering so I made a detour home, washed it, and put it on the deck.
What was I thinking when I liberally dotted the wool with the essential oil? I know from experience that a tiny drop on my wrist will tell myself – and the world! – that I have, well – put a drop of essential oil on. I no longer do this as I – and others! – are becoming increasingly sensitive to smells but I wondered what scented wool would be like. Just not THAT scented!!!
Well, after the wash and the sojourn in moon and star light, the wool is just fine. Give a sniff.
The thin orange one has rose hints and the fluffy multi hued brings to mind walking in a forest on a hot day as it is balsam fir.
The plan is to knit these up into rings and bracelets and see how they 'work' in that venue.
Next I am thinking to try lavender….and sage….
