Out of the Ordinary

Shredding threads; making pictures

IMG_8720
I shortened a dress by ripping four inches off the bottom which means threads will separate from the edge until a length for a stable fray is achieved.  This varies from fabric to fabric and the design of the garment and the amount and type of wear:  a scarf differs hugely from a skirt, for instance.  It is interesting to observe.

Yesterday I was sitting on a patio in the sun and unwound the latest dropee from the buckle of my shoe,  let it drift down onto the pavement and watched it take on this shape.

A horse head came to mind and then a skull and then Georgia O'Keefe.

Sometimes letters will form, particularly if the thread is being trailed behind me before I stop and it 'catches up',  but this was definitely an image.

The wind was testing the edges as I was leaving;  I imagine the thread was soon on its way.
