  • Blanket…..presto……coat/cape

IMG_9387 Next in the series of turning blankets into garments is this coat/cape  made from a fleece blanket.

Fleece has wind-resistant and rain-resistant qualities,  a lovely drape,  light weight,  and it is so cosy.

This is a simple, versatile design that took eight  minutes to produce – thirty seconds to make the two cuts for the armholes:  the rest of the time was spent in measuring for the position of those armholes and locating the looonnnnnnggggg
    safety pin for a closure.

IMG_9389 Here's the armhole slit under the 'collar' ;   the depth of the collar can vary but in this instance, because the blanket was big enough, I made it long enough to act as the sleeves when being worn as a coat.

Worn 'other way up' – the collar becomes even more prominent and the coat shorter.

IMG_9390 The collar can snuggle around the shoulders, the neck, the ears and also be pulled over the head and act as a cowl and/or hood.

It is a great item to take traveling because it is essentially……a blanket.
