The thought to grow some cotton and get a few tufts with which to spin has led to an ongoing search for cotton seeds…… an equally ongoing search for information on growing in this climate……led to a visit to a local pharmacy and the purchase of this cotton.
And then the resemblance to polyester batting led to the wonder what it would be like to spin polyester batting.
Here is what the polyester produced. I like the result.
The process was fun. I tore the polyester into strips and treated them as roving.
The cotton batting was harder to work with and a core thread of linen was then used with pieces of the cotton encouraged to twist or wrap or simply jump aboard the twirling linen.
This is the polyester roving spun with episodes of cotton batting and blue cotton tufts; then thin strips of denim material were suggested here and there.
