The woven aspect of Tunisian crochet seemed would translate into attractive and effective pot holders so I started experimenting.
Here is a holder using 100 percent wool.
This is a double strand of a linen/cotton blend.
Both are working just fine, are pliable enough to grip something hot and thick enough to provide protection from the heat.
I tried different sizes of hooks with the wool and the linen/cotton blend.
On the left is what the back side of Tunisian crochet looks like – sort of like reverse stockingette stitch but clunkier.
I like how the right side does resemble weaving and how it varies with the hook size.
The left piece seems too loose to use as a pot holder so I tried it as a wash cloth. Neat. And it makes a good soap holder.
