Another generation of little boys are producing artwork that graces the frig and then gets saved .
The collection of their father and uncles over the years resulted in such an abundance that sorting and tossing were necessary – never an easy task!
This more recent flow – and a flurry of vessel making with pulp – led to an aha! moment. I am using some of the 'treasures' in the slurry; mixing it with water and blending it, then pouring into a mould such as this basket from a 10 cent pile at a garage sale.
Once the vessel had dried I began to peel away the basket because the texture did not allow it to be removed.
I like the substantial look in such an airy object and knowing that its content is so special.
A bouquet of grasses gone to flower in a meadow/lawn were carefully clipped with scissors a two year old can handle and then presented to me. When they have been admired enough I plan to add them in the next memory catcher vessel.
In the meantime a berry carton got blended into a dense slurry and poured/sculpted into a cheesecloth-lined colander.
A birthday bouquet of flowers picked by that same Sprout had the now dried flowers pushed into the wet pulp and then was left to dry for the day on the deck in the sun and the wind.
