Out of the Ordinary

Ford de luxe sewing machine

IMG_0551It says Ford but it reminds me more of a Cadillac.

The colour.  The  'hood'.

The pop up 'trunk' ;  you just push the chrome button.  A pin cushion and clearly marked places to oil.  It is being oiled.

I am wondering if the motor is original – it says Made in Holland – but is a different colour.

It came with instruction manuals!

There is no bill or sale so I have no idea when or where it was purchased – but I did enjoy seeing the price.

The guarantee speaks of another era.  I suspect it is long past, in any case.

Is it an industrial sewing machine? With the oil compartment it makes me believe that it may have been one of the first such machines? VERY beautiful, and it has received the perfect new home! Enjoy.

  2. Hi Emily
I wouldn’t have thought it was industrial – too domestic in appearance and power. I’ve had it for a number of years but never oiled and threaded it until now. It works fine and I am admiring it each time I see it but my Berninas seem to outshine all others. Nice it finally got an airing, though.

  3. Is this your machine? I am SEW jealous. I love it. My husband has worked in Ford dealerships for over 35 years, and is a service manager with Ford now. I know it is probably not the same FORD, but love it anyway. If you want to part with it someday, I’d be interested.

  4. Hello Michelle
The Caddy is ‘spoken for’ should I decide to give it up. Your blog is neat!
