Out of the Ordinary

Month: October 2009

  • Fibre archeology : upscale ; scarf to hat/scarf

IMG_0628A pure wool scarf that had stretched to nearly nine feet long through some adventures in its lifetime and sustained a bit of moth nibbling along the way was scooped up at a church rummage sale.

IMG_0643 One end was folded down into a breadloaf mountain-shaped hat  secured with running knots.  Starting at the other end, long gathered stitches were  hand sewn  with linen/wool yarn and a large needle  along  a rambling  S  path up almost the entire remaining  length of  the scarf toward the hat.

    IMG_0644 Jauntily versatile!
