The salt and pepper are 'on view', a result of a recent decluttering which involved culling the collection of salt and pepper things; these were about to be moved on and out but I liked the look of them, just not on the windowsill, so they have been given space on the counter where they are now seen and noticed and remain as things, not stuff.
