Cutting strips vertically into the actual fabric of the coat provided the warp and my hand spinning was woven in as the weft. The coat was then also the loom.
A handwoven piece of fibre archeology discovered at a church sale dig was folded (orikeito) into a vest and vertical slits were then cut into the front to provide the warp through which was woven weft cut horizontally from the side material.
