Oh – garage sales!

One of the themes at garage sales this weekend was metal rulers.  What was interesting is, last week in my ongoing culling, I came across three rulers in my desk, two metal like the top one shown, and one wooden.  The wooden and a metal one got donated to the weekly church sale.  So, when I saw metal rulers popping up on the weekend – not where I had donated mine – I had a wonder, again, at such serendipity.  One of the sales actually had two for sale.  Must have had three since two are being gotten rid of, I surmised.

 

 

 

For some reason, while taking a photo of the one I had kept (with a knitting gauge ruler, also metal) I suddenly had a memory of – not – donating the second metal one….keeping it…..in the sewing desk drawer….in case I needed a ruler there.

Yep, there it was.  So I still have two.  

 

 

 

 

This was a find at a church sale yesterday. It does have a bulb – two of them.  You don't shake it – you squeeze it.  It is wonderful.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After reading this, the box has become as special as the flashlight.

I recently read that when cake mixes came out they were not welcomed by the public – until – the manufacturers made it necessary to add an egg  to the dry ingredients;  seems we want to take some part in things.  This  "Lift here" was perhaps part of that.

Awhile ago I came across instructions on how to make one of these from fabric.  Have had no success in doing so and cannot remember where I found the diy information. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It's a change purse.  And when I found it at the Flea Market I bought it and thought it might give me success with yet another try at making one.

Nope.  I've been using a heavy weight plastic as I want the coins to be visible, cutting two ovals, sewing them together, cutting the opening.

Will not open when squeezed at the ends.  

Any suggestions?
