Try this. Watch an episode of Perry Mason and an episode of CSI.
I think you will find it an interesting and worthwhile experiment.
I did. And that is speaking as someone in her sixties who watched the original Perry Mason television programs back in the late 1950's. (Note here the packaging of the DVD's; Perry Mason was in black and white; CSI is most definitely in colour!)
The order of viewing makes a difference; the age of the viewer, of course. The details of the 'differences' would be fascinating.
