The next time I am in my hometown of St. Thomas, Ontario (described in a travel guide as "a sleepy little town of little interest to tourists") I plan to walk at least the block where I lived from ages three to seven (most formative years!) and record it in words.
As I did with the Fernwood area where I lived for eighteen of my twenty-one years in Victoria. And turned it into a book five years ago.
Recently I got out a copy again and realized how special it is to 'walk a block and talk about it.'
(Click on the photos to enlarge them to read the type.)
If the pages are flipped quickly the figure strolls across the path at the top. Thanks to the genius of Kelly Hewkin who surprised me with this in the final proof!

That will be interesting reading. I’ll be doing some walking of Sooke streets in November when we visit our new grandson.
