This simple design (the former fleece blanket is 48 by 60 inches and simply needed the blanket stitch edging thread removed, two slits cut, and two corners knotted; took about fifteen minutes to do) is proving wonderfully versatile.
Here it is when I first made it. As the weather cools it is proving cosy over a light jacket or coat outdoors to give the vest effect (with its layerable feature) as well as providing an adjustable cowl around the neck; the upper knotted end taking the left front across to the right and through the right sleeve opening provides the closure.
It also makes a nice housecoatlet and would be good for travelling. And it is, after all, a blanket: on a park bench or for a picnic or at a sports event.
